The feast day was a great success. Arwen and Maredudd spent the
day together on Saturday cooking and catching up. We got all the
pies done before Sunday - not just a few, since there were
pies in five of the six platters or courses. As it turned out, we
compressed the platters from six to four, as there was just too many
dishes and not enough time. I hope Le Menagier will forgive us for
tampering with his menu.
Robert spent all day Saturday transforming the large family room
into a feast hall. The effect was great, but we need to
account for ventilation next time.
In addition to "regulars" Arwen, Guillame, Frederick, Robert and
Maredudd, we had Savina and William (and children) and Gwentliana and
Johanus. We talked some about what we're about, and the expectations
of the Companie. We ate far too much in the first platter, and after
the second, adjourned to the back yard for socializing and pell
practice. After the third platter and during the fourth, we went
around the feast table and each talked about ourselves and what we
expected of this experiment, and what we wished to accomplish. As
the candles burned low and the children burned out, we adjouned and
cleaned up.
